What To Expect : First 30 Days
As a Summa employee you have the opportunity to become someone's hero every day. On your first day take the opportunity to meet your supervisor and fellow co-workers. Familiarize yourself with our facility and the department where you will be working including your personal work area, the place to hang your coat, the washroom, the employee kitchen and emergency exits.
Remember if you are a non-exempt employee you will need to clock in and out beginning your first day. If you are unsure of the location of your timeclock, please ask.
Before the end of your first 30 days:
• Review The Employee Handbook
• Elect your Benefit Plans
• Attend the New Employee Orientation
• Begin your department-specific training
• Stay informed by reading Summa’s publications including Vital Signs, and The Pulse
• Share with your manager, supervisor or preceptor how your experience at Summa is going!
Questions like these may provide topics for discussion:
- Now that you've been here for a month, how does your position compare to what we said and to what you thought it would be?
- Is there anything here that you are uncomfortable with? Is there anything that might cause you to want to leave?
- What else should we be doing to support your success?
